The Sprovello – Matrimonio Gay LGBTQI+ Cosenza

The Sprovello was the wedding of the year here in Cosenza! It took place in the fantastic location of the Serragiumenta Castle in Altomonte and was (obviously) organized by one of the two spouses: the very famous wedding planner Davide Covello (and coordinated by the equally talented wp Maria Paola Mingrone).

In addition to having the role of second photographer, I must confess that I was invited to this wedding for the friendship that binds me to the two spouses. I must say that taking pictures knowing that the “conventional” shots were the responsibility of another person gave me the opportunity to express myself photographically with a report without constraints or rules: and in fact, of the total 300 shots I took, 192 passed the selection final and were delivered to Davide and Luigi. While I was there and enjoying the party with the many friends present, I had a sort of competitive transsexual certainly due to what I just told you: I can’t explain this feeling better, but it was as if I already knew in advance how I would took a certain photo and what the result would look like. In fact, I practically made the “selection” in the field while deciding where to position myself and what to photograph. In fact, the photos that were rejected were only less successful duplicates  purely for technical reasons. Contrary to my usual strong self-criticism, I am extremely satisfied with the photos of this wedding. On this page you have seen an excerpt that is even drier than the photos I submitted, but in both cases the sequence of images is the storytelling, in a truly personal way, of the main moments of the wedding celebration and the mega party that followed. The only regret is that maybe I should have drunk more, but it wasn’t absolutely necessary: I enjoyed it like few times in my life.

Gay LGBTQI+ WEDDING in Cosenza

Davide and Luigi have been a close-knit couple for over 10 years. In 2022, after various postponements due to the super-mega-pandemic of Covid19, on 3 July 2022 they got married at Serragiumenta Castle surrounded by the affection (they always say that but in this case it is really true) of family members and (millions of) friends who were all there to support them and testify that “love is love“, as the leading actors of this story say.

The law on civil unions in Italy

On 5 June 2016 with the Cirinnà law it is possible to make one’s relationship official through the Constitution of the Civil Union. Since that date, more than 10,000 couples have civilly united throughout Italy. The parties acquire the same rights and duties, with the reciprocal obligation of Moral and Material Assistance and cohabitation. The parties are required to contribute to the common needs on the basis of their substances and their capacity for professional and domestic work. The civil union can be requested by people of the same sex and over 18 years of age.

Gay marriage: how the civil union works in Italy

Love is Love. This was the neon sign that stood out at the entrance to Luigi and Davide’s party.

As it is easy to understand, civil unions are quite different from egalitarian marriage, which is currently valid in 28 countries around the world, including Spain, Germany and Malta.

In countries where it is possible to get married, the rules are clearly very different. For example, in France, Belgium, the United States and 26 other countries it is possible for same-sex couples to adopt a child, which is currently denied to couples who enter into a civil union in Italy.

The Castle of Serragiumenta in Altomonte

When choosing the venue for your wedding reception near Cosenza, be sure to take a look at the Castello di Serragiumenta in Altomonte. It can be reached in 25 minutes from Cosenza or Rende via the A2 highway. And if you really don’t have to get married, I still invite you to go and eat in the “Voliera“: the structure adjacent to the castle which is none other than the restaurant open to the public (but also for small events).
